ADUANA STARS 1-0 ASANTE KOTOKO
The game between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko was the top liner of this gameweek. The game witnessed a very shocking incident, both teams started the game and played throughout the first half with 10 men due to superstitious beliefs. Aduana defender Farouk Mohammed and Kotoko midfielder Martin Antwi were on the bench waiting for the other player to first step on the pitch, but that despicable and antique act wasn’t going to lower the expectations of the game. The first chance of the game fell to Yahaya Mohammed, he latched on a long pass and lobbed the ball over Kwame Baah, but his effort missed the upright by inches. The first half of the game ended scoreless, most of the game was played in midfield and both sides were cautious in throwing men forward. The second half was much more intense, Aduana created the best chances of the half. Elvis Opoku came close on two occasions, his first effort was saved by goalkeeper Kwame Baah and the second came after Empem Dacosta made an error in defense, Elvis Opoku bounced on the loose ball but he wasn’t able to keep his effort down, it was the best chance of the game. Aduana kept on believing and continued to push men forward, it finally paid off in the dying embers of the game when Samuel Bio made an impressive run into the Kotoko 18 yard box after going past Christopher Netty, he curled his effort into the far post, 1-0 to Aduana. The goal was virtually the last kick of the game. The referee brought proceedings to an end. Aduana walk away with all 3 points.
ASHANTI GOLD 1-0 DREAMS
Ashanti Gold continued their impressive form as they beat Dreams by 1-0 in Obuasi. The home side after dominating most of the game were rewarded in the 80th minute after Ahmed Ibrahim put the ball in his own net. Dreams had a good opportunity to level matters in the dying embers of the game, goalkeeper frank Boateng pulled off a scintillating save to prevent the ball from hitting the net. The game ended 1-0 in favor of the Miners, Ashanti Gold cement their place on top of the league log and also stretch their clean sheets tally to 9 in 11 games. Dreams will curse their stars as they lose a game for the second time in three games through an own goal. Ashanti Gold’s Eric Donkor was named man of the match.
ELEVEN WONDERS 1-1 WAFA
WAFA continued their unbeaten run on the road after holding Eleven Wonders to a 1-1 scoreline at the Ohene Ameyaw Park. After a scoreless first half, the home side opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, Musa Sule was on the scoresheet for the 3rd successive game. WAFA pulled parity in the 66th minute, Eric Asamany scored to make it 1-1. The game ended 1-1, WAFA’s unbeaten run on the road stretches to 6 games. Salifu Ibrahim of Eleven Wonders was adjudged Nasco Man of the match.
ELMINA SHARKS 1-0 EBUSUA DWARFS
The Ndoum Sports Stadium also witnessed the Central region Derby between Elmina Sharks and Ebusua Dwarfs. Elmina Sharks opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the game. Benjamin Boateng the scorer. The goal was his 5th strike in the last 3 games. Benjamin Tweneboah came from the bench and had the chance to make it 2-0 in the 74th minute, goalkeeper Razak Issah pulled off a decent save to deny him. Minute later, Augustine Owusu also had the chance to increase the tally for Elmina Sharks, but his effort was inches away. The game ended 1-0, Elmina Sharks recorded their 3rd successive victory of the season. Augustine Owusu was named Nasco man of the Match.
INTER ALLIES 1-2 MEDEAMA
Inter Allies suffered their 4th defeat of the season after losing by 2-1 at home to Medeama. Babil Nana Kofi opened the scoring in the 15th minute after he was sent through on goal, he calmly slotted the ball past goalkeeper Gideon Ahenkorah, 1-0 to Medeama. Inter Allies had the chance to level matters in the 21st minute, right back Richard Acquah made a good run from his half into the Medeama 18 yard box, but his effort could only hit the side net. Adebayor also came close from a free kick in the 41st minute, but his effort could only hit the side net. Gideon Ahenkorah in the opening minutes of the second half pulled off two great saves to deny his side from going two down. Prince Opoku Agyemang made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute after receiving a good pass from midfield, he kept his composure and placed the ball past the goalkeeper. Inter Allies from then grew into the game and came close on few occasions before Victorien Adebayor reduced the deficit in the 89th minute, 2-1. There was no time for a comeback as referee brought proceedings to an end, Medeama walk away with all 3 points, 2-1. Prince Opoku Agyemang was named man of the match.
KARELA 0-0 HEARTS OF OAK
Accra Hearts of Oak travelled to Tarkwa hoping to record consecutive wins for first time this season. Joseph Esso had the first opportunity of the game in the 5th minute, he was set through on goal but he his shot was straight into the goal keeper’s hands. The Phobians continued to show superiority at the Akon Park as they pushed Karela to the wall, Goalkeeper Isaac Hagan in the 73rd made a good save from a deflected effort to keep his side in the game. Daniel Afriyie in the dying minutes of the game had the chance to steal all three points for the Phobians but goalkeeper Isaac Hagan was there again to prevent the ball from hitting the net. Karela’s Godfred Yeboah was named Nasco man of the match.
