Former head coach of Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei has revealed the ordeal he went through under the Dr. Kwame Kyei led management prior to his exit.
The current Star Madrid manager was one of the casualties of the new administration upon their assumption of office.
Michael Osei was by then the acting coach of the team, he was demoted to take over the club’s youth team.
Speaking with Kaninja on Angel Sports, the Star Madrid manager narrated the painful and unpleasant experience he had under the Dr. Kwame Kyei leadership before his exit.
“I was the head coach at Kotoko when the new administration came and look at the problem they had with me. It was the same problem they had with CK. They just called me and ask me the head coach to go and be the technical director at the U-20 team”, he told Angel Sports.
“A first team coach that has managed to finish stronger in the league after picking the team from 15th Position, instead of giving me the opportunity to start new season and build from on the previous season, you tell me to go to U20.
“They didn’t consider that I am one of the many coaches that won trophies for the Club. I won the President Cup, G6, and when I was assistant to Didi [Dramani] we won the League, Super Cup, then FA cup, even with the FA cup, Didi [Dramani] was out of the country with the national team so I sat at the bench and won it.
“A person like Lawyer Boafo was not fair to me, as if he had personal issues with me. He granted many interviews that he made it clear that with his presence at the club, I won’t coach the the team”, he added.
“The team was owing me about ¢150,000.00 but I let it go because of the love they had for me and the blessing I had from Otumfuo before I took over as the head coach.”
Michael Osei after leaving Kotoko went on to sign for Liberty Professionals, he later terminated his contract to sign for Nana Appiah Mensah’s Division One side Star Madrid. He revealed how NAM1 saved him.
Michael Osei disclosed that despite signing for a Division one club. The salary and incentives he received at the club was 3 to 4x more than what he received at both Kotoko and Liberty. He also revealed that he was awarded a brand new Land Cruiser after signing for the club.
Michael Osei pledged his loyalty to NAM 1 and Star Madrid, “I can’t turn my back on NAM1 because he is now in crisis, that is why I am still with the division one side Star Madrid.”
