The Ghana Armed Forces has issued a press release saying the incident that involved an army officer and a civilian leading to the civilian’s death at Ashaiman was accidental.
The event occurred yesterday, Sunday 5th of April , 2020.
According to the GAF, the deceased tried to” disarm the soldier who was conducting an arrest as part of the OP COVID SAFETY”
The statement also stipulated that the civilian was involved in illegal activities which was against the Narcotics Act.
It further said, the suspect tried to disarm the soldier and resisted arrest.

This led to a struggle between the two “during which the soldier’s riffle accidentally went off”
“The suspect sustained life threatening injuries and while being conveyed to the hospital for medical attention unfortunately passed on”
